Opportunity in Scotland

Awarded two offshore wind sites in Scotland, located in the Outer Hebrides off the coast of the Isle of Lewis with a potential capacity of 2.3 GW.

Entry into Spain and Poland
2021

Entry into Spain and Poland

Entered Spanish and Polish renewables markets through acquisition of a 540 MW operating wind/solar portfolio and an established partnership with PKN Orlen to jointly develop the 1.1 GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland.

Entry into U.S. Energy Market

Acquired late-stage wind development portfolio totalling 320 MW in New York State, including our Bluestone (112 MW) and Ball Hill (108 MW) onshore wind farms currently in operation.

Acquisition in Colombia

Acquisition in Colombia

In 2020, building on our experience as power generators, we entered the electricity distribution space through the acquisition of a regulated utility in Colombia, Empresa de Energía de Boyacá (EBSA). our Bluestone (112 MW) and Ball Hill (108 MW) onshore wind farms currently in operation.

Entry into European Offshore Wind
2016

Expansion through Partnerships in Europe and Asia

Expanded into Germany through partnership in the 335 MW Nordsee One offshore wind project and acquisition of the 252 MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm.

Entered the Asia-Pacific Market through a development agreement and partnership with Yushan Energy that included developing the 1.0 GW Hai Long offshore wind project in the Taiwan Strait.

Entry into European Offshore Wind

Entered the European offshore wind market as the first Canadian energy company through investment in 600 MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Netherlands – one of the largest offshore wind farms in the North Sea and one of the largest in the world when the first turbine was connected to the grid in February 2016.

Natural Gas in Saskatchewan

Continued to expand our footprint in natural gas, developing new peaking and baseload facilities in Saskatchewan and becoming the largest power producers in the province.

Generated power from biomass and gas-fired generation as a way of eliminating local forestry waste.Through our gas-fired generation, we supported the provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan in their transition away from coal.
